Capped polymer composite handles the Austin sun and Hays County moisture cycling better than wood. The Trex Pro credential means we’ve completed Trex’s installer training program, and our clients get access to Trex’s enhanced warranty on completed builds. We’re a Trex Pro certified installer, and we’ve installed capped composite on multi-level builds, pool decks, and flat-lot custom builds across Buda, Kyle, Driftwood, and South Austin since 2016.

Trex Pro is our primary composite system. TimberTech is the premium secondary spec where the design calls for it. Cedar and pressure-treated wood are available where wood is the right call (lower tiers on multi-level builds, budget projects). The material choice depends on your sun exposure, your view orientation, and how you’ll use the space. We’ll explain the trade-offs in person.

At the site walk, we bring physical samples of Trex Pro and TimberTech color and texture options, as well as cedar boards for tier-optimized builds. We measure the actual sun exposure and water cycle patterns on your lot, then we’ll recommend the composite system that fits best. Schedule a site walk to get started.

Composite Deck Systems We Install

Three composite systems cover the Austin and Hays County market. Each handles sun, moisture, and traffic differently. There’s no single best composite; the right system depends on your lot, your tier exposure, and your budget. Tier-optimized material selection (composite at the top, cedar or pressure-treated at lower tiers) often saves 20 to 30 percent on multi-level builds without compromising the high-exposure surfaces.

Trex Pro Composite (Lead System)

Trex Pro is our primary system. Trex’s capped polymer formula handles Hays County sun, Austin moisture cycling, and high-traffic use. The Trex Pro Certified Installer credential means our crew has completed Trex’s installer training program, and our clients get access to Trex’s enhanced warranty on completed builds. Color and pattern selection are sized to your design palette. Physical samples were brought to every site walk. It’s the system that best fits most of our work in Hays County and South Austin.

TimberTech (Premium Secondary)

TimberTech is the premium composite spec we install where the design calls for it. AZEK PVC and TimberTech advanced composite are both available. Higher upfront cost than Trex Pro, but extended manufacturer warranty and premium color options. Common on Driftwood and Wimberley premium builds, where the budget supports the upgrade and the design palette demands the specific TimberTech finish.

Tier-Optimized Material Selection

On multi-level builds, we often optimize material across tiers. Capped composite at the upper tier where sun and weather exposure are highest. Cedar or pressure-treated at the middle and lower tiers, where exposure is lower, and the budget can be redirected. Tier-optimized selection typically saves 20 to 30 percent over an all-composite build without compromising the high-exposure surfaces.

Composite Pool Deck Surround

Composite around water is the material we call most often on pool deck builds. Trex Pro and TimberTech both handle chlorine and salt exposure better than wood. Slip-resistant surface texture options are available for safety. Pool deck resurfacing for existing concrete or wood surrounds is also handled when the homeowner wants to convert from a problem surface to a composite surface.

Composite Deck Resurfacing

Existing decks with structural framing in good condition can be resurfaced with composite boards and new railings without a full rebuild. Common pattern: cedar or pressure-treated deck installed 8 to 15 years ago, framing still solid, surface boards failing. We replace the surface and railing with capped composite. That’s a savings of 30 to 50 percent over a full rebuild while delivering the long-term durability of new composite. We’ve resurfaced several decks across Buda and Kyle this way.

Why Majestic for Composite Installation

Trex Pro Certified Installer Credential

We’re certified installers in Trex’s authorized installer program. The credential isn’t a marketing badge; it’s a manufacturer training program our crew has completed and a verification process Trex reviews annually. Clients gain access to Trex’s enhanced warranty for completed builds, extending beyond the standard residual coverage. The training also covers Trex-specific installation requirements (fastener spacing, joist gap, expansion gap) that affect long-term performance.

Composite-First on Multi-Tier Builds

On multi-level decks where the upper tier receives the most sun and weather exposure, we lead with capped composite. The Trex Pro and TimberTech systems both outperform wood at the high-exposure tier, where wood fails first at the fastener line. There’s a documented cost difference between all-composite and tier-optimized materials in every quote, so that you can see both options.

Material Samples From Completed Builds

At the site walk, we bring physical samples from completed Trex Pro and TimberTech builds, not just manufacturer chip cards. You’ll see how the material weathered after 2, 5, or 8 years in Austin and Hays County conditions. The color shift, the surface texture change, and the fastener line change over time. Decisions made from completed-build evidence, not marketing brochures.

Permit and HOA Coordination Handled

Our permit partners file the paperwork when a permit is required across Austin, Travis County, and Hays County jurisdictions. HOA architectural submittals are prepared as part of the quote, including the specific manufacturer product spec sheets that HOA committees often request. We don’t hand off paperwork to the homeowner mid-project.

Composite Deck Installation Service Area

Composite installation work is concentrated across Buda and Kyle, where Hays County moisture cycling and high summer sun make capped composite the right call for upper tiers and pool-adjacent surfaces.

Driftwood and Wimberley extend our composite work into the southern Hill Country fringe. Premium builds in these areas often spec TimberTech for the upper tier and cedar at lower elevations.

Manchaca, South Austin, and Sunset Valley round out the Hays-adjacent coverage. Pool deck composite work is common across this corridor, particularly on newer-construction backyards with in-ground pools.

For the broader Austin metro (Round Rock, Cedar Park, Georgetown, Pflugerville, Leander), composite work shifts toward flat-lot custom builds where the entire deck surface is composite. Less tier-optimization, more all-composite design.

Most Hays County HOAs (Plum Creek, Whispering Hollow, Sunset Hills) require composite product spec sheets as part of the architectural submittal. We include the manufacturer documentation in every submittal package, so the committee review doesn’t stall waiting for product information.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between Trex Pro and TimberTech?

Both are capped composite systems with strong performance in Hays County conditions. Trex Pro is our primary lead system, and we’re Trex Pro certified installers, which gives our clients access to Trex’s enhanced warranty. TimberTech is the premium secondary spec with AZEK PVC and TimberTech advanced composite, both available. TimberTech costs more upfront but offers extended warranties and premium color options.

Trex Pro and TimberTech carry 25 to 50-year manufacturer warranties, depending on the product line. Real-world service life of capped composite in Austin and Hays County conditions typically meets or exceeds the warranty period when the deck is installed to the manufacturer’s specifications. Wood decks in the same conditions typically need significant surface replacement within 8 to 15 years.

Tier-by-tier, yes, on upper tiers where sun and weather exposure are highest. Composite costs roughly 30 to 50 percent more upfront than pressure-treated wood and 15 to 25 percent more than cedar. The break-even is around year 10 on most builds when you factor in maintenance, sealing, and surface replacement. We often recommend tier-optimized material to capture savings without compromising upper-tier durability.

Yes. Existing decks with structural framing in good condition can be resurfaced with composite boards and new railings. Common scenario: cedar or pressure-treated deck installed 8 to 15 years ago, framing still solid, surface boards failing. We assess the framing during the site walk and provide a quote for both options (resurface or rebuild) so you can see the cost difference between the two approaches.

Yes. Composite handles chlorine and salt exposure better than wood at pool-adjacent tiers. Slip-resistant surface texture options reduce safety risk around water. Trex Pro and TimberTech both have product lines specifically rated for pool deck applications. Pool deck resurfacing in composite is also common when the existing concrete or wood surround needs replacement.

Five phases. Site walk, material samples, and exposure measurement (week 1). Design and material specification (weeks 2 to 3). HOA submittal and permit coordination (weeks 3-6). Install from framing through final railing (weeks 6 to 9). Final inspection and walk-through (week 9 to 10). Contact us to start with the site walk. We don’t quote work blind.
